Meet Our StaffRev. H. Celeste Heath, Pastor--Rev. Heath grew up in Portsmouth, Virginia. A graduate of East Carolina University, she received a bachelor's degree in music education and music therapy. Celeste worked as an educator in the Norfolk public schools for five years before answering a call to ministry and enrolling in Wesley Theological Seminary. She received her Master of Divinity degree in 1993 and was appointed as the chaplain at Randolph Macon Academy in Front Royal. Additional appointments have been to Centenary UMC in Portsmouth and Aldersgate UMC in Norfolk. E-mail is mvumc.pastor1@verizon.net
Nancy Convery is the friendly voice you hear when you call Mount Vernon UMC. She has been handling the office for the church for more than nine years. She can help you with change of address, newsletter articles, locating other staff members and a number of other needs. She can be reached at mvumc.office1@verizon.net. She is in the office from 8:30 to 2:30, Monday through Friday. Dawn Meadows, Sacred Dance Choir Director--Dawn is a graduate of Dance and Theatre from Florida School of the Arts and The University of Utah. Dawn has been the director of Arlington Dance Theatre's Adult Company, Aldersgate Spirit Dancers and Studio Gold Dance. She is a member of the Erika Thimey Dance and Theatre Company, a professional modern dance company with a renowned Sacred Dance repertoire. She is an active member of the Sacred Dance Guild. Mindi Spenner is the director of the Mount Vernon UMC Weekday School. Mindi has a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Cornell College and a master's degree in teaching and education from Texas Women's University. She served as a kindergarten teacher in San Jose, California, and the director of a Mother's Day Out and Preschool in Plano, Texas. Mindi has been an assistant director at Finding Dreams in Children Child Development Center in Washington, D.C. She has also been a sexual assault counselor in Plano and a tutor and mentor for a child in D.C.
